The 2015 programme features a full daily schedule of lectures during the Public Festival. This year we are fortunate to host international artists such as Dante Marione, Cappy Thompson and Penny Rakov, as well as UK artists with an international reputation including; Katharine Coleman, Keith Cummings, Lisa Pettibone and Colin Reid who will all be delivering lectures about their work.
There will also be the chance to find out about glass in the European context with talks from Barbara Derix and Maria Luisa Martinez (Director of the Spanish Glass Museum (MAVA)) and Cornelia Lauf who will be talking about the pan-European project, "European Glass Experience". The Bohemian Connection with Stourbridge will be explored by Charles Hajdamach, and Ronald Pennell will give a talk about the life of Jiří Harcuba, not to mention Christian Schmidt from Germany with a presentation of his own work. The local context and heritage will be explored by authors Jason Ellis and Graham Fisher, archaeologist Kate Churchill and Borough Artist Steve Field who will be giving a fascinating talk about the work of Edward Bainbridge Copnall and the famous Churchill Screen.
Most lectures will be held at the Glasshouse Arts Centre and Ruskin Glass Centre and entry to lectures is free with your Festival Pass (except where otherwise indicated) - just turn up and enjoy. Times and dates are published in good faith, however these are subject to change.
