Anjali’s interest in glass stems from her experience working with traditional artisans in India, on research and design initiatives aimed at socio-economic empowerment. She has also worked at Pukeberg Glasbruk in Sweden, Pilchuck and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, amongst others.

Her studio process focuses on the development of ways to discover, access and restructure information held in a material, which in recent years has led her to develop ‘Puffy Glass’© a porous, lightweight, carbon-filled concoction made from glass and food grain.

Attentive to small objects, this experimental masterclass will explore baking technologies and hand carving methods to kiln-cast and cold-work this fascinating and ground-breaking material – think of it as pate de verre with a difference! Participants will experiment with recycled ground glass either freestyle or in open moulds, enabling them to push their creative boundaries and use glass in radical new ways.
