A highly successful masterclass leader in 2006 and back in 2008 by popular demand. A leading practitioner in techniques using neon, cold cathode and special effects lighting products, engineer and physicist, Wayne creates innovative lighting for applications as diverse as automobile use to alien cinematic backgrounds in many Hollywood films. He is an inspirational teacher who demonstrates how to get started in neon with relatively limited equipment and has an in depth knowledge of the most sophisticated techniques.
This class will cover theory and practice of making neon as an art form – how and why it works, how to take a glass tube and turn it into something that lights up, and will cover all the basic glassblowing techniques used in making neon. At least one sculpture will be made during the class. Wayne will also talk about other new forms of neon and lighted glass art forms. By the end of the workshop, participants should have knowledge of the equipment needed to
set up a small neon glass studio and where further information can be obtained.
