A world class pioneer artist whose interest in anthropology, philosophy, mythology and psychology is revealed in his groundbreaking lampworked pieces. Shane’s sheer skill and inventiveness -
as well as the humorous and thought-provoking themes of his works - delight the many admirers of his work. Shane
has won numerous awards, is exhibited widely and is currently President of the Glass Art Society. He is also an experienced, fun and inspirational teacher.
Participants will use flameworking skills to make pieces that can be incorporated in a mixed-media context. The goal will be to improvise using the immediate environment, own interests and materials at hand to construct pieces.
Create solid sculptures encompassing the human figure, animals, avian, aquatic, and other denizens of the natural and dream worlds utilizing soft and borosilicate glasses. It would benefit people who want to make sculptural beads and small sculpture for jewellery. Creativity, planning, and spontaneity
will be the guideposts for this class.

Evening Events
Included in your masterclass package are evening events such as a visit to the Black Country Museum, an evening reception at Broadfield House Glass Museum, the opening of The Tempest glass bead exhibition, as well as a play with glass shadow puppets based on The Tempest and the opening of the British Glass Biennale.
