As we all know, there is a lot of waste glass out there and not much happening with it. This is a global problem and global solutions are needed.  Glass Heap Challenge UK will be the first of many worldwide challenge events to find solutions. The challenge is to work in teams within a limited number of days and to up-cycle waste glass into a product, artwork or installation – either functional or non-functional.

Using waste glass supplied by waste management companies, and the glass industry these teams of artists, architects, technologists and designers will work towards finding ways to transform this waste glass, to show its potential and create new paths that will lead us to a more sustainable future.

The public will have be voting for their favourite product/design/idea arising out of the Glass Heap Challenge. Voting closes at 5pm on Saturday 25 August, so come along in the evening to see who has won the Challenge and talk to the teams about their ideas.
