Glasshionistas Finale

Call For Entries:

Submissions for ‘Glasshionistas’ wearable glass art show are now being accepted for 2012.

The International Festival of Glass 2012 is all set to take place at the Ruskin Glass Centre, on the August Bank Holiday weekend. This year’s Festival Finale will take place on the evening of Monday 27 August and will be a shimmering vision of spectacle and sparkle. Artists aged 16 and over, are invited to parade, prance and dance about in their very own wearable glass creations. The event will follow the Fun Auction on the closing day of the Festival, with plenty of time to prepare and transform, for an 8.00 – 8.30pm start.

Part show part parade, Glasshionistas is an opportunity to celebrate all that glistens and gleams with a glass themed Mardi Gras style pageant. If it’s good enough for the Queen its good enough for us! Inspired by Andrew Logan and Zandra Rhodes extraordinary Glitzy Glass Fashion Show at the Festival in 2006 and partly by the U.S G.A.S Conference Glass Fashion shows produced by Laura Donefer, this will once more, be a chance to bring the Festival to a close by being part of and starring in the final show ourselves. Glass artists are now invited to submit their ideas for the wearable glass art Extravaganza by contacting Robyn Smith at finale@ifg.org.uk

Entrants will be asked to model their own wearable glass creations or find a model to do so in their place. Glasshionistas will provide an unrestrained, raucous night of fun, creativity, and riotous laughter. Applicants can be any gender and any size, but should be aged 16 or over. Anyone wanting to enter their animals as models will have to accompany their pets for the entire evening. So come and join us for a carnival of glass. Wear your own costumes and creations. Come and celebrate the twinkle light and sparkle that glass brings in an evening of music, light and performance.

Glasshionistas! Come one come all!
Designs submitted for the fashion show must have a glass theme or be made of a percentage of glass. Themes could be the interpretation of glass and its many qualities such as, translucent, refractive, reflective or iridescent. Garments can be made using any technique. Kiln-formed, blown, recycled, lamp worked etc. Fibre optics and LED lights could also be involved. All artists/designers interested in being considered should contact Robyn by August 1st as there may be limited space. The total limit of costumes allowed on the stage is not yet determined. Act quickly to guarantee your night in the spotlight!
