“Glass Pechakucha” is a one off Networking event hosted by the Contemporary Glass Society. Twenty four contemporary glass artists will be presenting their work in quick-fire succession as they take part in a Pechakucha at the International Festival of Glass. Devised in Tokyo in 2003 as an event for young designers to meet, network, and show their work in public; PechaKucha draws its name from the Japanese term for the sound of "chit chat". It rests on a simple presentation format: a selection of images shown each for 20 seconds to keep things moving at a rapid pace – so prepare to be dazzled. Any contemporary glass artist can take part; see the call for entries and booking information on the CGS website: www.cgs.org.uk.

Entry is free to presenters, for those not presenting a small booking fee of £7.50 for non members, £5.50 for student non members, £5 for CGS members and £3.50 for CGS Students members is required to secure a place. Places are limited so please book in advance to avoid disappointment, light refreshments will be provided. The event will be held in the ‘Northlight Theatre’ at the Ruskin Glass Centre on Saturday the 28th of August 2010 at 15.00 – 17.45. ‘Northlight Theatre’, Unit 15, Ruskin Glass Centre, Dudley, West Midlands, DY8 4HE.

Cheques to be made payable to the ‘Contemporary Glass Society’ and sent in advance to: The Contemporary Glass Society c/o Broadfield House Glass Museum, Compton Drive, Kingswinford, West Midlands, DY6 9NS.

Call for CGS Members
The Contemporary Glass Society is looking for 24 CGS members to take part in a Glass PechaKucka event at the International Festival of Glass, on Saturday the 28th of August 2010 at 15.00pm – 17.45pm. Devised in Tokyo in 2003 as an event for young designers to meet, network, and show their work in public; Pechakucha derives its name from the Japanese term for the sound of "chit chat". It rests on a presentation format that is based on a simple idea: a selection of images shown each for 20 seconds; to keep things moving at a rapid pace.

We would like to invite CGS glass artists to show a selection of images (exactly 9 images) and to talk for 3 minutes each. This may seem short and sweet but it is designed to give a concise introduction to you and your work, each image will be shown for 20 seconds. Images could include new projects, commissions, acquisitions, products or could be more loosely related to people or things that inspire you. The event will include a complementary drinks reception and the opportunity for networking, so even if you don’t wish to present, please do book a place to listen to the presentations and talk to our presenters.

All members wishing to take part should send 9 digital images (72dpi) on a disc to Jessamy Kelly by the 14th of June 2010 to the following address: 2/9 Elm Row, Edinburgh, EH7 4AA. Please do not email the images through as your entry will not be counted. We can only accommodate 24 members so places will operate on a first come first served basis.

Masterclasses commence on Monday 23 Aug and finish on Thursday 26 Aug.
