Other Festival Sessions   Navigating the interactive creative process
  between glass materials and process,
  creativity, style, function and context

  Friday 22 August 9.45am
  Venue: Wolverhampton University School of
Art and Design and Bilston Gallery
  Price: £20.00 including coach travel

Based on the Charles Eames model that we all have a very different methodology for the development of our creativity and the generation of new ideas, this one day Symposium looks at case studies of professional makers, designers, and artists in glass and the limitations and opportunities to take creative risk and incorporate creative strategies of development. When generating a new work at what point and in what way do these individual creative pathways differ and in what way are they similar?

During the afternoon we will transfer to Bilston Gallery to draw on the international ‘Glass Routes’ exhibition which is devoted to the creative use of glass within architecture, product design, craft object and art form. We hope to illustrate the diversity of practice by recognising the dynamic cross cultural philosophy of practice, context and material expression.

Symposium Speakers
Professor Andrew Brewerton, Dean of Dartington College, author and academic
Professor Keith Cummings, artist, author & academic
David Reekie, glass artist

Katie Holford, glass designer
Professor Donghai Guan, Chinese glass artist and academic

The Symposium will be followed by the official opening of ‘Glass Routes’. All participants are warmly invited to attend.
